Dave Deal was with CARtoons in the mid-70's. He mainly did cover art, which was awesome.I don't know why he didn't do many stories in the mag, but he did do a 3 part story called 'The History of Hot Rodding'.Check it out

He also made a series of models for Revell in the 70's. They were called 'Deals Wheels'.I just recently found out about these CARicature models, and have started to collect them. There were around a dozen of them, with some names as Stink Ray , 57 cHEAVY, Tirebird, Mclapper, Swine hunt, Glitter Bug, Van (vw van),Baja Humbug, Phoney Car(mustang), ZZZZ-28, and a few others including 3 plane models. These are somewhat hard to find, and are not cheap, expect to pay around $40-$50 for a unopened car model, and about $75-$125 for one of the plane models. Ouch! Some of these were re-issued in the 80's under the Revell name 'Funster'. These were exactly the same as the originals, just differant colors. They are also less expensive and easier to find. So check them out, and start to hunt some down at model shops, flea markets, etc. They're pretty cool.
